4 Wisconsin airports receive federal funding

WI (WEAU) – U.S. Senator Tammy Baldwin announces that four Wisconsin airports will receive over $6 million in federal funding.

According to a press release from U.S. Senator Baldwin, the funds will be used to increase security, replace critical equipment and modernize facilities.

The four airports to receive funding are in Milwaukee, Green Bay, Marathon County and La Crosse.

“Our local airports keep our Made in Wisconsin economy running and enable Wisconsin residents to do business and visitors to explore all the Badger State has to offer. I was proud to support this investment to ensure Wisconsin residents, tourists and businesses can count on our airports to operate safely and on time,” Baldwin said. “This funding will help ensure airports of all sizes across Wisconsin can handle increased traffic and continue to safely serve our communities and visitors.”

The estimated allocation is available below:

  • Milwaukee General Mitchell International Airport – $2,876,300 to install new lighting to improve safety and rehabilitate the runway to extend its useful life.
  • Green Bay-Austin Straubel International Airport – $2,068,226 to replace existing snow removal equipment that has reached the end of its useful life.
  • Central Wisconsin Airport in Marathon County – $862,209 to replace an existing fire truck to improve safety.
  • La Crosse Regional Airport – $223,200 for the renovation of the aircraft rescue and fire fighting building.
