And that’s almost all! Cerny concludes with a sizzle reel of first and third party games running on the PS5 Pro, as well as a snapshot of the PS5 Pro itself.

At the end there is also a snapshot of the prices …

$699.99 | £699.99 | €799.99 | ¥119,980

…and ray tracing in 2017, and an increase in performance in Hogwarts Legacy.

In this presentation, many first-party games are offered, and Mark Cerny now explains the larger graphics card in the context of Horizon Forbidden West

He then describes the “big three” behind the improvements for developers and gamers: a larger GPU (by about 45%), advanced ray tracing, and PSSR AI-driven upscaling.

It’s almost as if the rumors are true!

Mark Cerny now discusses the balance between fidelity and performance modes and the desire to narrow the gap between the two with the PS5 Pro…

Mark Cerny starts by looking at some of the PlayStation 5’s biggest achievements so far from a technical perspective. He talks about how Tempest Audio, along with the haptics of the DualSense and the machine’s key hardware components, enhance our experience.

It’s Mark! And he confirmed it’s the PS5 Pro!

Only 30 seconds left! Let’s see what Mark Cerny has for us!

Another of us hopes that the drive in particular does not fall down…

“Although many leaks suggest that the PS5 Pro will not come with a disc drive, I’m optimistic that this won’t mean the end of physical games. If the rumors are to be believed, the PS5 Pro will have a very similar design to the PS5 Slim – which already has its own Digital Edition without a disc drive.

This visual similarity hopefully means that the PS5 Pro will also be fully compatible with the existing Disc Drive for PS5 attachment, which enables full disc drive functionality in a PS5 Slim Digital Edition. Having to shell out $79.99 / £99.99 for a separate attachment after the PS5 Pro is probably already quite expensive to buy would be a bit of a blow, but it would definitely be worth it if, like me, you already own an extensive physical games collection. Fingers crossed…”

At TechRadar Gaming, we have our own wishes and ideas, so I asked my colleagues to tell us what they hope to see from the presentation.

“With the PS5 Pro, it’s not just about performance. It’s about optimization. Contrary to what usually happens with console generations, we see that newer expensive PS5 games perform relatively worse than those from earlier stages of the console’s life cycle. Titles like Horizon Forbidden West, Rise of the RoninAnd Star Wars Outlaws all struggled to maintain a smooth 60 fps in their performance modes at launch.

This is something that needs to be addressed on the PS5 Pro in my opinion. More reliable performance for those who prefer higher frame rates is a must here, along with a more powerful internal SSD for faster loading times (and hopefully a larger 2TB capacity). However, since we’re already seeing 40fps modes in titles like Star Wars Outlawsaimed at people with VRR-capable displays, could establish itself as the new standard for big-budget AAA gaming.”

We all have an idea why we are gathered here today, but Sony missed out on a few things just yesterday…

Sony seemed to have accidentally jumped the gun with the official announcement of the PS5 Pro. Ahead of today’s PlayStation 5 technical presentation hosted by Mark Cerny, the previously unreleased video was titled “PS5 Pro,” which kind of gives the game away.

We’ll give Sony the benefit of the doubt and assume that this was a mistake – although the video title “PS5 Pro” may have been intended for the time after the presentation. Seems a little too convenient though…

The presentation starts in just ten minutes! We’ll tell you everything about the video itself and what Sony is showing. We’ll also remind you of some important rumors that have surfaced along the way.
