Gervonta “Tank” Davis and David Benavidez could reportedly share a doubleheader on PBC pay-per-view on December 14.

Increase PPV purchases

Putting WBC interim light heavyweight champion Benavidez and WBC “regular” lightweight champion Tank Davis on the same card is a good move by the PBC, especially when they face less than stellar opponents. The “Mexican Monster” could face 35-year-old underdog Jesse Hart on December 14, which would be a safe fight for him.

Benavidez, 27, is the WBC mandatory challenger for light heavyweight champion Artur Beterbiev and will soon get a title shot against the winner of his undisputed bout with WBA champion Dmitry Bivol. In other words, Benavidez will not dare fight anyone risky before he gets that lucrative fight that is set to make him millions.

Salvador Rodriguez reports that WBA “regular” lightweight champion Tank Davis (30-0, 28 KOs) and WBC interim 175-pound champion David Benavidez (29-0, 24 KOs) could team up for the December 14 card. The two fighters shared a card last summer, fighting on PPV at PBC on June 15 and bringing in 350,000 buys.

Potential opponents

Tank Davis’ possible candidates are said to be Edwin De Los Santos and Jose “Rayo” Valenzuela. Either of these fighters would be outstanding and far better than anyone he has fought during his ten-year professional career.

Both fighters would be serious options for Tank, but they are not household names with fans, so the need to share a card with David Benaviguez is there to increase PPV buys. Benavidez is also not particularly popular, and if he decides to face underdog Jesse Hart, who is an unknown among casual fighters, it is important that PBC put him and Tank on the same card.

Tank Davis could fight Shakur Stevenson next year if the New Jersey native recovers from his hand injury and is able to face him in a unification fight.

Salvador Rodriguez also says that Charlo and Brandon Figuerora could also be on the card on December 14, against “rivals to be determined.”
