Broncos vs. Bucs inactive games report

Broncos vs. Bucs inactive games report

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers had hope over the weekend that defensive lineman Vita Vea could play in Week 3 against the Denver Broncos after he suffered a knee injury last Sunday in Detroit. However, Vea will miss at least one game before he is ready to play again, as he was downgraded to “out” on the injured list on Saturday.

Vea is one of five players on the Buccaneers’ roster who will not play against the Broncos due to injury. Defensive lineman Calijah Kancey will miss a third straight game after suffering a calf injury just before the start of the regular season. All-Pro safety Antoine Winfield is out for a second straight week after suffering a foot injury in the season opener. Luke Goedeke, the team’s right tackle, is still recovering from a concussion he suffered in Week 1. And rookie WR Kameron Johnson is out with an ankle injury.

Cornerback Josh Hayes, one of the Bucs’ best special teams players, returns for his sophomore year after missing one game with an ankle injury. Defensive lineman Will Gholston will also play after being listed as questionable with a knee injury.

The Buccaneers and Broncos submitted their inactive player lists at 11:30 a.m. ET on Sunday, 90 minutes before the scheduled kickoff of their game at Raymond James Stadium. After the Buccaneers called up defensive lineman Mike Greene and wide receiver Sterling Shepard from the practice squad on Saturday, they had 55 available players and therefore had to name seven inactive players to get to the gameday limit of 48. The Broncos called up running back Tyler Badie and defensive back Tanner McCalister from the practice squad and therefore also had to name seven inactive players.
