Premiere of “High Potential” reaches 11.5 million viewers in 3 days

The series premiere of “High Potential” saw a 220% increase in viewers after three days of cross-platform broadcast.

According to Nielsen Live + Same Day data, the Sept. 17 premiere averaged 3.6 million viewers on ABC. But when you include Hulu, Hulu on Disney+ and digital platforms, that number jumped to 11.5 million viewers. And in the adults 18-49 rating, the episode rose 354% from a 0.35 opening to a Multiplatform + 3 rating of 1.59.

Additionally, the 18-49 audience share (excluding linear repeats) reached a 1.31 after three days, the highest for an ABC drama series premiere since the launch of “Big Sky” in November 2020. “High Potential” also broke into Hulu’s top 15, holding the No. 1 spot for three days in a row beginning Sept. 22. On “Live + Same Day,” “High Potential” was the most-watched series in its time slot, beating reruns of “Password” on NBC and “FBI: Most Wanted” on CBS, which also aired that night at 10 p.m.

According to the official logline, Kaitlin Olson Morgan stars. The series “follows a single mother with an extraordinary mind whose unconventional talent for solving crimes leads to an unlikely and unstoppable partnership with a seasoned, by-the-book detective named Karadec,” played by Daniel Sunjata. The cast also includes Javicia Leslie as Daphne, Deniz Akdeniz as Lev “Oz” Ozdil, Amirah J as Ava, Matthew Lamb as Elliot, and Judy Reyes as Selena.

Drew Godard created the series based on the French series Haut Potentiel Intellectuel (HPI). He and Sarah Esberg are executive producers for Goddard Textiles alongside showrunner Todd Harthan and Dan Etheridge and Rob Thomas. Olson is producing. The studio is ABC Signature.
