The Jets named Chargers Mike Williams exchange rumors on multiple occasions

The Jets named Chargers Mike Williams exchange rumors on multiple occasions

As Week 7 begins across the NFL, the Los Angeles Chargers are once again embroiled in rumors about a deal for New York Jets wide receiver Mike Williams.

Williams, a possible candidate for the Chargers trade long before his Aaron Rodgers drama and Davante Adams trade, is now one of the hottest names in the rumor mill.

And the Chargers keep coming. Here’s a new report from NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport: “Meanwhile, Adams’ move to the Jets also left Mike Williams, the big-play wideout New York signed this offseason, as a potential trade chip. According to sources, several teams have called about him, including the Steelers and his old team, the Chargers.”

Also, a new post from ESPN’s Adam Schefter: β€œThe Jets have stuck with Williams instead for now, but it may not be for long. According to league sources, two of the interested teams are the Steelers and the Chargers, where Williams played the first seven years of his career.

Specifically, Schefter’s report states that the Jets and Steelers have postponed any Williams trade discussions until after Sunday night. Whether that means the Steelers are ahead of the Chargers is hard to say – but one would think that a front office connection between the Chargers and Jets would give Los Angeles an advantage.

Given Justin Herbert’s massive amount of weapons on the latest Week 7 injury report, the Chargers could come out of the week looking for help. And who better than their own former first-round pick who has already played with Herbert, right?
