Melanin excellence ensued this week as celebs flocked to Atlanta’s iPic Theater for a special screening of Tyler Perry’s latest project.

On Monday, Netflix hosted a special screening of Beauty in black Streaming on Thursday, October 24th.

As the series’ creator, director, writer and executive producer, Tyler Perry introduced the screening and acknowledged the cast and crew while announcing exciting developments in the upcoming 16-episode series.

“This city, this city, this state has been really, really good for me, for us at Tyler Perry Studios, for the film industry, so I’m grateful that you’re all here to see the first two episodes, which will be available on Netflix on October 24th,” Perry said at the screening. “The Is My crazy Spirit running, Right? He also praised the series’ lead actors, Taylor Polidore Williams (Kimmie) and Crystle Stewart (Mallory), as well as his talented team at Tyler Perry Studios.

On the carpet, the cast explained their characters to BOSSIP and shared a possible theme song that sums up their characters Beauty in black Story arc.

Taylor Polidore Williams shared that Kimmie will take viewers on a wild ride in the must-watch series and Beyoncé’s “16 Carriages” defines her journey.

“She’s on a long journey to get where she wants to go, but she’ll get there.”

Similarly, Crystle Stewart said that her character Mallory should hear the melody of another Beyoncé song; “Alien Superstar,” which ties in with her superstar status

“She has two sides, b*** and b***er,” the actress said. “She has this public persona that she has carefully crafted, she is really nice, friendly in public, people love her; Behind closed doors she’s a sneaky bitch.”

For TS Madison, her character Daga is so devious that she only has one thing on her mind.

“Oooh, that’s something bad,” TS said, singing along to Rihanna’s “B*** Better Have My Money.” “When Mr. Perry called me and said, ‘You’re too pretty for this role!’ I said, “No, I can do that.” I know this character. I’m excited to see it come to life. I am very excited and nervous because I don’t know what the audience’s outlook will be.”

Richard Lawson, who plays Norman, one of the patriarchs in the series, shared that the character’s theme songs include “What’s Love Got To Do With It” and “Ooo Baby Baby” by Smokey Robinson with lyrics from “Are You Ready” by Sly & The Family Stone could belong. ”

“Don’t hate the blacks, don’t hate the whites. If you get bitten, just hate the bite,” Lawson said.
