Back to the fall weather on Friday weekend

WICHITA, Kan. (KWCH) – After some record high temperatures, a cold front is bringing fall weather back to Kansas on Friday and is expected to last into the weekend. Much of the state will have highs in the 60s and 70s on both Friday and Saturday, with some frost threatening northern Kansas Saturday morning.

There will continue to be plenty of sunshine over the next few days and northeasterly winds will ease by Friday afternoon. Saturday will be another cool fall day with highs mostly in the 60s.

On Sunday, southerly winds return, warming temperatures into the 70s. Some gusts will reach speeds of up to 30 miles per hour, but there will be much stronger winds on Monday and Tuesday before the next big burst of weather arrives. A deep low-pressure system should produce wind gusts of 50 to 60 mph on Monday and Tuesday, bringing higher humidity. This is likely to lead to showers and storms across central and eastern Kansas on Wednesday. Rain chances should decrease in time for Halloween, but another system could arrive Friday to bring some rain to central and eastern Kansas.
