Morgan Gibbs-White, Jota Silva and Elliot Anderson need to be assessed before Nottingham Forest take on West Ham

Morgan Gibbs-White, Jota Silva and Elliot Anderson need to be assessed before Nottingham Forest take on West Ham

Nottingham Forest will assess Morgan Gibbs-White, Jota Silva and Elliot Anderson tomorrow (Friday) before deciding whether they are fit to face West Ham United at the City Ground on Saturday.

Anderson was able to play against Leicester City despite sustaining a kick in the previous game against Crystal Palace, but suffered pain at the King Power Stadium.

Newcastle United’s £15million summer signing has only done recovery work on the training ground this week.

“Elliot, in the game against Palace someone stepped on his foot and it hurt a lot. He was able to play against Leicester but was treated,” Nuno Espirito Santo said in his pre-match press conference.

“It’s painful for him, but he’s doing everything he can to be available to play at the weekend. We will judge him tomorrow. With some players we have to be careful and make the right decisions. But that’s why we’re here.”

Anderson has flourished in the last two games, putting in positive performances in the wins over Palace and Leicester City and taking on the number 10 role in place of Gibbs-White.

Nuno says Gibbs-White is making good progress in his recovery from an ankle injury sustained in the 1-1 draw with Chelsea at the start of October.

“It was a difficult question for Morgan; a painful one. He’s better now. He will plan,” Nuno said. “The squad has the solutions we need to find. But it’s not the same without him because he brings us something different.

“It’s always the same – after a period of the season with some tough games, players suffer knocks and injuries, players come back. We have to evaluate them tomorrow.

“Morgan is one of the players in this group that we need to assess and see how he gets on. Chris (Wood) too and Elliot and Jota. They have punches.”

Striker Wood, who has scored seven goals in nine appearances this season, is expected to be in top form to face West Ham.

Danilo and Ibrahim Sangare are also making progress in their return from a broken leg and a serious thigh injury respectively. Nuno said the duo are still “on the right track” and Forest hope this could mean a return to training by Christmas.
