The offense doesn’t help the Jaguars in Philly

The Jaguars failed to get the offense going in Philadelphia.

The Eagles controlled every part of the game and led Jacksonville 16-0 at halftime in Philadelphia. Trevor Lawrence and the offense were in slump, managing just 39 total yards and unable to do anything against Philadelphia.

Jacksonville managed just 25 yards of offense in the first quarter and hit two punts. It went for a fourth-and-1 call from its own 39 in the second quarter and saw Lawrence’s pass to Evan Engram fail incomplete.

Turnovers killed the Jaguars, with the Eagles turning two giveaways into Saquon Barkley touchdowns and 13 points.

Austin Trammell, who was called up to the practice squad, fumbled a punt return and the Eagles took advantage. Jalen Hurts hit Barkley two plays later for a 20-yard touchdown for a 7-0 lead. When Jacksonville got the ball back after Josh Hines-Allen’s second sack of the half, Lawrence’s pass to Travis Etienne went out of his hands and was deflected by Zack Baun. Barkley capped that realization with a 19-yard touchdown run.

Lawrence is 4 of 10 passing for 23 yards, working with a struggling unit that traded left tackle Cam Robinson last week and lost receiver Christian Kirk to a broken collarbone. Rookie receiver Brian Thomas Jr. plays but was only targeted once.

Philadelphia (5-2) controlled time of possession and moved the ball well against the Jaguars. Jacksonville held the ball for just over 8 minutes in the first half.

As of Sunday, the Eagles had not scored a goal in the first quarter in any of their seven games so far this year.

Jacksonville held Philadelphia on its first drive and the Eagles had to fend it off, but Trammell’s fumble led to a short field and easy points.
