A popular Montgomery County bakery that had been tantalizing taste buds since 2011 closed its doors in February, Justin Heinze writes for Patch.

Kriebel’s Bakery on Ridge Pike in Eagleville has long been a popular spot in the community for custom cakes for birthdays, weddings and other special occasions, but now the award-winning chef has decided to take a teaching position at the Culinary Institute of America.

Owner and chef Colleen Kriebel, a Plymouth Meeting native, said she is ready for a new chapter in her life.

“This incredible journey would not have been possible without all of you,” she said. “I have been fortunate to be able to teach young, aspiring pastry chefs how to succeed in this industry. My love and passion for this craft is something I will be sharing with so many students in the years to come, my heart is full…” she said.

Kriebel has received local and regional recognition for her edible art. She also appeared on the Food Network’s “Cake Wars” in October 2016.

No plans have been announced for the former Kriebel’s Bakery building.
