A young woman was fatally stabbed early Sunday morning after reports of an altercation with a man in a train station car park in West Sussex.

Police have now arrested a 26-year-old man from Crawley on suspicion of murder, who remains in custody.

Metro reports that officers were called to Station Way around 7:10 a.m. following an “altercation.”

After a search near Crawley train station, officers found the victim, who had been stabbed multiple times.

Paramedics treated the woman on site, but unfortunately her death was confirmed a short time later.

Officers arrested the man on Stephenson Road, about a mile from Station Way.

Superintendent Rachel Swinney said police were not looking for anyone else.

She said: “This is a tragic incident in which a young woman has lost her life and we are working hard to find out exactly what happened.”
