Giant Eagle sells all GetGo convenience store locations

Giant Eagle has entered into an agreement to sell all of its GetGo convenience stores to international fuel industry leader Couche-Tard, the company announced Monday.

Couche-Tard operates more than 16,000 stores in 31 countries and territories, including Circle K brands.

“We are excited to welcome GetGo to the Couche-Tard family,” said Brian Hannasch, president and CEO of Couche-Tard, in a press release. “The more we learn about GetGo’s business, the more it becomes clear that it has built a strong and passionate customer base with high-quality stores where talented and dedicated teams work to deliver a great experience.”

As part of this acquisition, Couche-Tard plans to retain all GetGo team members in stores, operations and support. In addition, Giant Eagle and Couche-Tard have agreed to collaborate on GetGo’s myPerks loyalty program at all locations and explore opportunities to further expand the program in the future.

“We are excited about the potential this transaction brings to both Giant Eagle and GetGo,” said Bill Artman, CEO of Giant Eagle. “It will allow us to focus more on our core supermarket and pharmacy businesses, strengthen Giant Eagle and better make strategic investments in our people, stores and value proposition, while providing GetGo with the perfect partner in Couche-Tard.”

Subject to FTC approval, the transaction is expected to close in 2025.
