Samsung’s Gaming Week Sale offers $600 off the best high-end gaming monitor

Samsung’s Gaming Week Sale offers 0 off the best high-end gaming monitor

The official Samsung store has launched a huge Gaming Week sale, offering great discounts on a whole range of gaming monitors, but our favourite deal today is of course the Odyssey G9 for $1,199 (was $1,799).

This 49-inch OLED monster is the best premium gaming monitor you can buy right now, and a stunning centerpiece for any gamer’s setup. It’s an expensive purchase, sure, but today’s massive $600 goes a long way toward making it a something affordable for anyone looking for a fantastic monitor for gaming and other content.

The Samsung Odyssey G9’s gorgeous HDR OLED panel packs an impressive set of specs. Not only is it capable of an incredible 240Hz refresh rate, but it also supports 99% of the DCI-P3 color gamut, meaning it outputs tons of color depth and gorgeously deep blacks. HDR on gaming monitors can sometimes be more hype and marketing than actual impact, but the G9 is a rare exception that does what it says on the tin.

At $1,199, that’s not quite the lowest price we’ve ever seen for the G9—it used to rarely hit $1,079. However, as part of this week’s Samsung Gaming Week sale, you’ll also get $100 in credit as a bonus gift, which is handy for extra accessories or your next purchase.

In our review of the Samsung Odyssey OLED G9, we gave this exceptional monitor four and a half stars out of five. The clunky user interface was the only real criticism—aside from the, you know, ridiculously high price.

If you’re picking up this monitor, you should know that a decent graphics card is essential if you want to get the most out of it. Of course, anyone can enjoy its huge 49-inch panel and great picture, but you’ll need a suitably powerful card if you want to challenge its blazingly fast 240Hz refresh rate at 4K.

In fact, we’d probably recommend the top-of-the-line RTX 4000 series cards if you really want to push the latest games to the limit at the highest 5120 x 1440 resolution the G9 can output.
