The Los Angeles Rams and the Houston Texans face off at NRG Stadium on Saturday afternoon in Week 3 of the NFL preseason. We’ll look at it from a betting perspective and determine the best bets for this game. Here’s a Los Angeles Rams vs. Houston Texans prediction.

Summary of the Los Angeles Rams

The Los Angeles Rams improved their preseason record to 2-0 by winning the “Battle of LA,” defeating the Chargers by a final score of 13-9. After the Rams complete the preseason, they will begin the regular season by heading to Ford Field to face the Detroit Lions in the season debut of Sunday Night Football.

Rams use late comeback to beat Texans

Stetson Bennett threw for 213 yards, a touchdown and an interception on 17 of 31 passing, while Zach Evans led the Rams on the ground with 62 rushing yards on 16 carries and Boston Scott also had 55 rushing yards on 10 carries. Jordan Whittington led the Rams in pass receiving with 5 catches for 52 yards, while JJ Laap had two catches for 50 yards and a touchdown and Xavier Smith also added 5 catches for 45 yards. On defense, Omar Speights led the Rams with 8 total tackles, including 7 solo tackles, while Jaylen McCollough also had an interception.

Summary of the Houston Texans

The Houston Texans will look to build on their 2-1 record from the preseason after winning two straight games, most recently a 28-10 victory over the New York Giants. After the preseason concludes, the Texans will travel to Indianapolis to face the Colts.

Texans remain on offense

Tim Boyle threw for 94 yards on 10 of 15 passing, while CJ Stroud threw for 88 yards on 7 of 10 passing. Case Keenum also had 73 passing yards and a touchdown in the win. JJ Taylor led the Texans with 36 rushing yards, while Cam Akers had 29 rushing yards. John Metchie III had his team’s most passing yards with 6 receptions for 68 yards and a touchdown, making him Houston’s top receiver, while Jawhar Jordan had 4 grabs for 42 yards and Dalton Schultz added 3 receptions for 39 yards. On defense, Mike Ford Jr. and Max Tooley each had 5 tackles, including 4 solo tackles, the most on his team, while Jalen Pitre and Derek Stingley Jr. each had an interception and Pitre recorded a pick-six.

Prediction Rams vs. Texans

I’m on the Texans’ side here. I think we’ll see some action from the Texans starters here, and even if we don’t, I like what I’ve seen from Houston’s backups a lot better than the close calls the Rams have had in their games so far. Houston is still a serious contender in the AFC, and they’re not waiting until the regular season to show that from the guys lower in the standings. I’m going to bet on Houston here.
