A building fire in Melbourne, Florida, on Saturday afternoon sent visible smoke into the air for miles.

According to Melbourne Fire and Police Departments, the fire broke out Saturday afternoon at Atlantic Fine Furniture & Mattress outside Eau Gallie.

Melbourne Fire Rescue spokesman Clark Simmons told FOX 35 just before 4 p.m. that the fire was under control and there were no injuries.

He said both the building owner and the business owner were on scene. The State Fire Marshal’s office has been notified to investigate the cause of the fire.

On Sunday morning, a video was posted on Atlantic Fine Furniture & Mattress’ Facebook page showing the damage behind the building and inside the store.

In the video, Eric Long said the majority of the damage was to the outdoor area behind the store. Patio furniture, the structure that covered it, and a delivery truck were completely destroyed.

“There was a lot of damage. A lot of things burned. But I think we had a lot of advantages and were quite lucky, as I’ll show you here,” he said.

Inside, there is some smoke and water damage in the area of the rear of the building, but the majority of the damage is limited to the rear of the building.

He said the showroom was largely spared. He said it would take some time to restore power and assess the damage and the showroom before they could reopen.

He also thanked the fire department, whose station is across the street. He said firefighters were working outside and noticed the smoke before furniture store employees were inside – and responded before an emergency call was made.
