Walmart stores in Michigan recall apple juice due to arsenic content

Before you reach into your refrigerator to pour yourself or your kids a big glass of apple juice, you better double check that it’s not part of Walmart’s 25-state recall. Yes, Michigan is part of the recall.

According to CBS News, Walmart has recalled nearly 10,000 cases of apple juice from stores across the U.S., including in Michigan. The recall came after tests revealed potentially harmful levels of inorganic arsenic, a substance that has been linked to various health risks.

The levels of arsenic found in the recalled apple juice bottles are relatively low and are not considered fatal. However, even low levels of arsenic can cause some unpleasant symptoms such as nausea, stomach pain, diarrhea, headaches and dizziness. This is not something to mess around with, so it is better to play it safe and throw away any affected bottles.

The FDA has not released any information on whether anyone has become ill from the recalled apple juice, but it is still important to take the warning seriously and avoid consumption.

The recall concerns Great value for money The brand’s apple juice is sold in 8-ounce plastic bottles. These were sold in packs of 6 at Walmart stores in Michigan and 25 other states. If you have one, look for a best-by date of December 28, 2024, and a UPC code of 0-78742-29655-5. If your juice meets these specifications, don’t drink it — either throw it away or return it to the store where you bought it.
