This year marks a milestone for the popular North Fork winery. Sparkling lace! Twenty years ago, founders Tom and Cynthia Rosicki planted the first grapes on Long Island’s maritime soil, and Sparkling Pointe wine has been pouring ever since. To celebrate, they’re hosting a Carnival celebration inspired by the Rio de Janeiro Carnival on Saturday, August 17th! The event promises to bring vibrant energy and excitement to the North Fork, featuring Brazilian dancers and performers, live music, festive food, and of course, Sparkling Pointe’s finest wines. They’ve partnered with renowned Brooklyn-based artist Craig Anthony Miller, known for his series of paintings and murals that combine stained glass style with symbols of freedom, strength, resilience, and well-being, to create an exclusive wine bottle label and packaging design for a new sparkling wine. The limited edition collector’s bottle will be unveiled at the Carnival celebration. General admission tickets will allow you access to the festivities, which begin at 2:00 p.m. Performances run from 3:00pm to 4:30pm and live music is featured throughout. Wine is served by the glass until 5:30pm, and bottle sales run until 6:00pm when the event ends. For VIPs, early admission begins at 1:00pm with a private show at 1:30pm! For more information and tickets, visit sparklingpointe.com.

The 76th anniversary Softball charity game for artists and writers takes place on Saturday, August 17th at Herrick Park in East Hampton! The game and its associated events serve to build community around the game and develop a better game for the benefit of the community. Enjoy hotdogs, hamburgers, and ice cream while you watch! “In the spirit of one of the East End’s longest running traditions, artists, authors, supporters, and volunteers come together to entertain, compete, and have fun while supporting local charities that provide important human services. We’re asking for your help to help us hit the jackpot for the community we share and love.” It’s fierce competition, with celebrities competing against each other, and everybody wins! All proceeds from suggested donations and t-shirt and hat sales from the game will go to these local charities: The Eleanor Whitmore Early Childhood Center, Phoenix House Academy, The Retreat, and East End Hospice. In case of bad weather, the game will be played on August 24th if it is cancelled for adverse reasons.
