The Green Bay Packers will leave Brazil empty-handed after losing their season opener to the Philadelphia Eagles 34-29 on Friday.

For much of the game, the Packers looked like the team that snuck into the playoffs by beating the Dallas Cowboys in the wild-card round. They took advantage of two early turnovers to go up 6-0 in the first quarter, but their stout defense quickly faded as Jalen Hurts, Saquon Barkley and the Eagles offense hammered the Green Bay defense with all their might.

It wasn’t a particularly enjoyable game for Jordan Love after the Packers made him the highest-paid quarterback this offseason. The fourth-year player completed 17 of 34 passes for 260 passing yards, one touchdown and one interception, and made some questionable decisions that left fans wondering if he was worth the high price tag this offseason.

Green Bay fans were also disappointed with the Packers’ defense.

1. Pick 6 dropped
2. Thrown into double cover PBU
3. 70 yards TD to a completely free wide receiver in a broken coverage
That’s why Jordan Love is the highest-paid quarterback in football

Adding to the Packers’ woes in their season opener, Love went down awkwardly after a tackle on the game’s final drive and was carried off the field in apparent pain. He did not return for the game’s final play as Malik Willis ran in under center, but was sacked before he could attempt a Hail Mary.

The severity of Love’s injury is unclear at this time, but Packers fans can only hope he’s back on the field in Week 2.
