Garrett Wilson talks about exciting viral videos with Aaron Rodgers

The relationship between veteran quarterback Aaron Rodgers and standout rookie receiver Garrett Wilson was hyped ahead of the 2023 season, as the duo would play together for the New York Jets.

However, fans didn’t really get to see their chemistry in action on the field, as Rodgers suffered a season-ending torn Achilles tendon on the first drive of the first game in 2023.

This season, Rodgers and Wilson will hopefully be able to give fans the show they’ve been waiting for for over a year, but they’re entering the season after a video went viral during training camp showing a heated argument between the quarterback-receiver duo.

In conversation with Sports illustratedWilson’s attorney, Albert Breer, speaking on behalf of Dr. Teal, acknowledged that he is working to have conversations with Rodgers about what is happening on the field so that their relationship does not come across as strained as it does in these videos.

“It’s not always pretty on camera. We play a tough sport, it’s a physical sport, a competitive sport — that side of us comes out when we’re out there on the field. That’s what you saw on those videos,” Wilson said. “I’m really blessed to have Aaron because we can have those conversations and the ball still comes the next time we walk off the field. It’s really cool for me and I learn something every time we have those conversations.”

Their relationship is growing off the field, too, Wilson said. He enjoys hearing Rodgers’ football insights from the 19 years he played in the NFL.

“He’s like having another coach on the field, except he’s the best at throwing the ball,” Wilson said. “When I can have those conversations with him, when we’re in the film room, when we’re having one-on-one conversations, I really feel like I get better because of him and just get a different perspective. … I’ve never played with a quarterback that could offer me that insight.”

“If someone plays until they’re 40, it’s no coincidence.”

The Jets are looking to have a more successful season this year after finishing 7-10 last season without Rodgers.
