All clear at TSC and Lively Tech after police operation

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WTXL) – UPDATE 6:45 p.m.

Tallahassee Police released the following update on the incidents:

“Tallahassee Police are investigating a burglary, robbery and shooting in the 2700 block of West Pensacola Street.

At approximately 3 p.m., officers responded to reports of a robbery at The Social 2700, 2700 West Pensacola Street. As two suspects fled the scene in a vehicle, the suspects fired several shots in the area. There were no injuries in the shooting.

So far, one suspect has been arrested and officers are working to locate another suspect.

The preliminary investigation found that this is an isolated incident and there is no ongoing threat to public safety.

The investigation remains open and active and updates will be provided as new information becomes available.

All clear at Tallahassee State College after ordered accommodation

A Leon County Schools spokesperson told ABC 27 that both Tallahassee State College and Lively Tech are allowing their students to leave campus.

Tallahassee police confirmed that TPD is investigating a shooting in the 2700 block of West Pensacola Street. Officers were called to a home invasion at around 3 p.m. A shooting then occurred. The suspect fled the scene. TPD said there were no injuries.

Investigators are working to locate the suspects involved. There are TPD officers in the area.

UPDATE 16:20

TSC has updated the situation on its X account.

“At approximately 3:23 p.m., TSC Police received a call from dispatch reporting an incident at an apartment complex near the main campus. Local police are currently on scene. The shelter in place for the main campus remains in place. Updates will be posted as new information becomes available.”

Tallahassee State College is urging students, faculty and staff to shelter in place on campus.

On Wednesday at 3:32 p.m. TSC posted on Facebook:

“A dangerous situation has been reported off campus near Appleyard Drive. Students, faculty and staff should immediately seek shelter in the nearest building, evacuate and clear the area to allow emergency responders to work unhindered. Updates will be posted as new information becomes available.”

According to Flightradar24, a helicopter is circling above the Leon County Sheriff’s Office. The Leon County Sheriff’s Office confirmed it is assisting Tallahassee Police with an investigation. At 3:54 p.m., several police vehicles were visible on the traffic camera at Dupree Street and Pensacola Street.

A Leon County Schools spokesperson confirmed that Lively Technical College is on lockdown due to the off-campus situation. Witnesses reported hearing gunshots in the Appleyard Drive area. Leon County School District offices are also on lockdown due to the off-campus situation.

We have called Tallahassee Police about the incident. They are working to confirm details of the incident. According to the Tallahassee Police online map, a burglary was reported nearby on West Pensacola Street at 3:10 p.m. We are working to confirm if the activity reported near TSC is related to this situation.
