Amal Clooney is the epitome of elegance in a plunging velvet gown and layers of diamonds

Hollywood royalty has entered the building.

Amal and George Clooney made their grand entrance to the Albies, their Clooney Foundation for Justice’s annual event, on Thursday evening. The awards ceremony took place at the legendary New York Public Library in Bryant Park and featured a star-studded guest list.

The Clooneys were the epitome of elegance when it came to combining black-tie looks. The human rights lawyer looked stunning in a long black velvet dress with a sophisticated plunging neckline, a structured bodice and a short train that flowed as she walked.

While the dress was simple, Amal upped the ante with layers of fabulous jewelry: long, chain-like drop earrings set with tiny white diamonds, and a stack of cuff bracelets also fully set with diamonds. She carried a shiny black clutch and sported a shimmery smokey eye, a red lip and a matching red manicure. Her hair was styled in elegant waves.

George was his dapper movie star self in a classic black tuxedo. He completed the look with polished black dress shoes.

The couple entered the event hand in hand and stopped at several locations to take photos. In the pictures you can see how the two look lovingly into each other’s eyes.

The Albies were named after Judge Albie Sachs in tribute to his important role in ending apartheid in South Africa. Its goal is to honor and shine a spotlight on people who have dedicated their lives to justice.

Celebrity attendees at this year’s event included Donatella Versace, Cate Blanchett, Emily Blunt and husband John Krasinski, Gabrielle Union and Dwyane Wade, Shailene Woodley and Jimmy Fallon, among others.
