Are you working at one of the best workplaces in Maine in 2024?

There are some familiar names on this year’s list of Best Workplaces in Maine.

Maine Business reported on a list of companies that includes some recurring names, such as Machias Savings Bank, Allagash Brewing Co. and Cianbro.

Maine Business points out some great new places, like Purdy Powers & Co., an accounting firm.

Who decides which companies are the “best places to work” in Maine?

There are 134 companies and other organizations on the list (that’s how many there were for 2023The Maine State Council of the Society for Human Resource Management, the Best Companies Group and Bridge Tower Media of Minneapolis have been selecting the “best places” for 19 years.

The requirements are that you must be either a for-profit or nonprofit business or a government entity that is at least one year old, has an actual building, and employs at least 15 full-time or part-time employees in Maine.

There are two criteria: an assessment of each candidate’s workplace policies, practices and demographics, which make up about 25% of the company’s assessment. The majority of the information comes from employees, identified in a survey, which makes up 75% of the assessment. First-hand.

The 2024 Best Employers in Maine have created workplaces that inspire success, put their employees first, and create a positive work environment for everyone.

The rankings are divided into small employers (15-49 employees), medium employers (50-249 employees), and large employers (250 or more employees).
