Bachelorette Jenn Tran flew to “DWTS” directly after the live finale

It was a dramatic 24 hours for The Bachelorette‘s Jenn Tran.

Last night, the medical student was brought to tears live on stage at After the Final Rose as she watched footage of herself proposing to contestant Devin Strader in Hawaii. But it wasn’t exactly a happy ending for the couple, as Tran then revealed that Strader had surprisingly broken off their engagement over the phone last month.

After reflecting on the painful memories in front of a live audience – and having a difficult, understandably frustrating conversation with Strader about their breakup – Tran had less than an hour before her life got back on track and she was on a flight to New York City to another Live performance as part of Dancing with the stars Season 33: Cast revealed on Good morning America Wednesday morning.

Now the 26-year-old is ready to put the past behind her and embark on a brand new adventure in the dance competition. “I feel good. It’s a wide range of emotions, but overall I’m fine,” she says Weekly entertainment. “Ready to just enter this new era.”

But it wasn’t exactly easy – literally — to get here. “Last night I was on stage crying and doing the whole breakup thing, then I came back to the dressing room and was basically told I had 45 minutes to catch my flight,” she explains. “It all just happened and was thrown together at the very last minute.”

Tran is no slacker, though. “I got in a car. I didn’t even have my stuff packed, I just had my little bag,” she recalls. “I was sweaty. I didn’t even have a sweater on. I was just going from one thing to the next, running through the airport.”

In fact, she met her professional partner Sasha Farber for the first time at the airport. “And now we’re here!” she rejoices.

Although she doesn’t have much dance experience—unless you count a passed ballroom dance class she took in college—Tran is ready to give it her all. DWTS dance floor.

“I am very ambitious and like to set my standards very high. Whatever I do, I do my best,” she says.

Dancing with the stars The series premieres on September 17 at 8 p.m. ET on ABC and Disney+, with episodes streaming on Hulu the next day.
