Best Champions League Tips and Predictions (How to bet on Champions League Week 1)

The day that football fans around the world have been waiting for has arrived. The UEFA Champions League is here and thanks to changes to the format, it is more exciting than ever.

There are no more groups in this round of the tournament. The 36 teams play in a league format, with each team playing eight games. The best eight teams qualify for the round of 16, while places 9 to 24 go into a play-in round and the rest are eliminated.

And for the first time ever, games will be played Tuesday through Thursday, giving us the opportunity to see even more games on the schedule.

Every week there are more high-profile games and that starts in Week 1. With Manchester City and Inter Milan and AC Milan facing Liverpool, we have some fantastic matchups. Let’s take a look at the top games of the week and give our predictions.

Pep Guardiola’s Man City will continue to be clear favourites in every game, especially at home. They have once again made a fantastic start and are among the favourites to win the Champions League. Erling Haaland, who has scored a whopping nine goals in four games so far, will likely create plenty of chances against Inter.

Inter are coming off a historic season in Serie A, where they completely dominated the competition. They have brought back the same starting eleven as last season and this continuity in the squad will be one of their greatest strengths throughout the year. Coach Simone Inzaghi believes in his 3-5-2 formation, which causes problems for every opponent they face, and Man City will be no different.

Manchester City have conceded one goal in each of their last three games. They can be shaky at the back, especially when they play with a high back line at home. Inter have players like Lautaro Martinez and Marcus Thuram who can exploit those spaces and get on the scoresheet. Expect goals from both sides.

Milan had a poor start under new coach Paulo Fonseca but finally picked up their first win of the season at the weekend, while Liverpool suffered a disappointing home defeat to Nottingham Forest.

Liverpool have no problem scoring goals wherever they play. Milan have a shaky defence that has conceded six goals in four games so far. Mo Salah and Luis Diaz will create enough chances to get the Reds on the scoreboard.

Milan have Christian Pulisic and Rafael Leao on the wings. The dynamic duo will give Andrew Robertson and Trent Alexander-Arnold a headache. At home, Milan have no problems scoring goals, so expect plenty of goals in this clash between two European giants.

Aston Villa are back in the Champions League after 41 years. They had an incredible run last season, finishing fourth in the Premier League, and have made another good start, winning three of their first four games, their only defeat coming against Arsenal.

For many Villa players, this will be their first Champions League game, which could cause some nerves at the start of the game. Luckily for them, they are playing against one of the weakest teams in the competition. Young Boys are yet to win a game in the Swiss Super League and are in last place. They pulled off a surprise win against Galatasaray in the qualifying round, but it is highly unlikely that they will be able to do so against a stronger Villa side.

Young Boys have conceded 14 goals in six games this season, with their porous defence having little chance against Villa’s dynamic attack featuring Ollie Watkins and Jhon Durán.
