Blue Jackets outdoor game ticket information released, logo unveiled

The NHL announced plans Thursday to begin public ticket sales for the Blue Jackets’ March 1 outdoor game against the Detroit Red Wings at Ohio Stadium.

After offering Blue Jackets full and partial season ticket holders presale tickets earlier this summer, the team and league will close ticket sales on a first-come, first-served basis at 10 a.m. on October 4 through Ticketmaster.

Ohio State University students also received an email from the university’s athletic department on Thursday with instructions on how to purchase advance tickets to sit in a student section at the game.

“The excitement of it is obviously an ‘outside the box’ thing that lasts all season, so it can give you a little extra momentum and energy,” said new Blue Jackets forward James van Riemsdyk, who has played the most outdoor games of any NHL player (seven). “It’s certainly a great experience, but it stays with you even more when you can win the game.”

The league also unveiled its official logo for the game, which is officially part of the 2025 Navy Federal Credit Union Stadium Series. The Blue Jackets’ colors – red, white and blue – form the primary colors of the logo, which includes three nods to OSU.

The main design and wording are embedded in a horseshoe, reflecting the original shape of Ohio Stadium. The logo uses the Buckeyes’ famous football helmet stripes, and “NHL Stadium Series” includes the word “The” as an ode to the school’s use of the official name “The Ohio State University.”

The game that will make the Blue Jackets the 30th in the NHL,th The team’s first outdoor game will be broadcast on ESPN’s main network and will begin at 6 p.m. It will be the fifth outdoor game for the Red Wings, who have a 2-0-2 record in their first four games.
