Borderlands 4 certainly has big shoes to fill considering the popularity of the previous games in the series. Not only that, but it also has the unenviable task of making up for the live action Borderland filmwhich is generally considered one of the worst films of 2024. With all the pressure, one can only hope that Borderlands 4 can make the landing.

Borderlands needs to be reworked

Is it time for a truly open world?

The Borderland The series is known for its huge maps full of bizarre enemies and encounters, but one must admit that the presentation of the individual places quickly becomes boringWhile the original Borderland and its sequel can get away with a segmented world design, many players were frustrated when they learned that Borderlands 3a game that came out at the height of the open world trend failed to capitalize on it. The third game offered some additional movement options, but many maps were simply linear sprints from one end to the other.

One must hope that Borderlands 3 changes this process by giving players a truly open world where the action is not separated from the central hub. Although this means losing some of the dungeon crawling elements, It is not difficult to imagine Borderland Game that uses some elements of Far away to provide a more seamless exploration experienceWhether or not that’s the plan remains to be seen, but the hint that a new planet will apparently be central to the gameplay experience suggests that Gearbox is considering some major changes.

Borderlands players have had enough of Pandora

It’s time for a new landscape

Pandora served the Borderland Franchise well, serving as the main background for the series since the first game in 2009. As much as it has become an integral part, It is also time to acknowledge that the planet itself is not so impressive. Several Borderland Some characters have even joked that all the bloodshed in the world isn’t worth it, since Pandora itself is only good for mining Eridium, a mineral that is of great importance to the corporations vying for control, but only makes life harder for the settlers.

Gearbox’s projects are often a gamble, but
Borderland
has always proven to be the studio’s most coveted property.

Pandora is constantly repetitive and is the only constant in a franchise that aims to surprise players with each game. While spinoffs like Borderlands: The Pre-Sequel And Tiny Tina’s Wonderland may have divided audiences, but many will agree that the best thing about both games are the new environments. Pre-Continuation makes some fun changes to movement by placing players on one of Pandora’s moons while Wonderlanders represents a major change of tone thanks to its medieval fantasy theme.

There are still many questions about Borderlands 4 But knowing Gearbox, players won’t have to wait long for answers. The game is scheduled to be released in 2025so details will continue to trickle out of the studio over the next few months before a flood of information bubbles out in the months leading up to launch. Gearbox’s projects are often a gamble, but Borderland has always proven to be the studio’s most coveted property.
