Bruce Willis rarely appears in public despite being diagnosed with dementia

Bruce Willis has largely withdrawn from the public eye since being diagnosed with frontotemporal dementia. But the 69-year-old former actor was spotted making a rare public appearance in Studio City, California.

Photos from Backgrid show the star sitting in the passenger seat of a car wearing a baseball cap and striped collared shirt. The caption reveals that he was “enjoying a ride around Studio City with his bodyguards.”

The actor keeps a low profile these days. He retired from acting in 2022 when his family announced that he was suffering from aphasia. The following year, they announced that he had been diagnosed with frontotemporal dementia.

Bruce’s wife Emma Heming Willis and his youngest daughters Mabel and Evelyn were not photographed with the actor, although it goes without saying that they have stood by his side since his diagnosis.

Emma has become a key face in raising awareness of FTD, having cared for her husband for 15 years now. As a key figure in the community of carers who all look after affected family members, she recently filmed herself cycling 10km on an exercise bike in support of the Pedal For Spencer charity.

The Die Hard The actor’s entire family has come together in light of his diagnosis, including his ex-wife Demi Moore and their three daughters Rumer, Scout and Tallulah. St. Elmo’s Fire The actress even attended Bruce’s daughter Mabel’s graduation ceremony in June.

Tallulah recently gave an update on her father’s health to E! News, saying, “It’s the same one, which is a good thing in this situation.”

She added: “There is so much love in our visits and I feel like being able to have that connection is the most important thing for me.”

“I know he knows how much I love him, I know how much he loves me, I know how much he loves all of us,” she said, adding, “It’s hard for anyone going through this, but it has really created an opportunity for more love for my family.”

Rumer previously spoke about her father’s relationship with his granddaughter Louetta, gushing that Bruce is doing “really well” and that she often brings the little girl over to see him.

According to Rumer, her daughter “loves” visiting Bruce, which she finds “so sweet.”

“Louetta is honestly the most famous person in our family. In my family, people call and ask if they can just play with her,” she confessed to People.
