Bulgarian man repeatedly stabs himself in the neck at Bogota El Dorado airport while horrified passersby watch

A Bulgarian man repeatedly stabbed himself in the neck with a broken bottle in front of horrified passengers at Bogotá’s El Dorado international airport on Saturday night after asking immigration officials for help returning to Europe.

According to local sources, the man arrived at the airport in distress and told local authorities that he had been the victim of a robbery in which all his personal belongings, including his passport, money and other documents, were stolen.

The man reportedly pleaded with officials to help him return to Bulgaria, but was told to contact the Bulgarian embassy. After being told he could not fly, the man broke a bottle and held a piece of glass to his neck. A standoff ensued in the airport’s main departure area.

Stunned bystanders watched as immigration officials and police officers attempted to negotiate with the man before he suddenly shoved the shard of glass into his neck.

Passengers screamed in horror as the man repeatedly stabbed himself in the neck, while local police immediately rushed to the scene to stop the man from harming himself.

In a disturbing video of the incident, the man can be seen running from police and stumbling as police attempt to stun him with a taser to defuse the situation. The man managed to sprint through the airport check-in area before police eventually arrested him and he was taken to a medical center for emergency treatment.

The incident occurred just days after an American tourist was filmed kicking and banging on the door of a LATAM plane in Bogota El Dorado after arriving at the gate following the completion of boarding.

The man reportedly arrived late at the airport and was warned by security staff that he would likely not make it to the gate in time. However, when he was told the gate was closed, he pushed past airport staff and walked to the plane.

When the man reached the jetway, the plane door was already closed, so he kicked the plane and screamed to be allowed on board the flight to Cartagena.

The man was arrested by police and later deported from Colombia after allegedly attacking an immigration officer.
