Chiefs’ Chris Jones explains how he has been “very spoiled” since entering the NFL

Chris Jones, star defensive tackle for the Kansas City Chiefs, has had quite a good time since entering the NFL in 2016.

Jones has been involved in each of the franchise’s three Super Bowl titles since arriving in Kansas City, and the Chiefs will again be favorites to win their third Super Bowl title in 2024.

Jones was asked what it was like playing for the Chiefs this week, ahead of their Week 1 game against the Baltimore Ravens on Thursday, and his answer was hilarious.

“Thanks to you, you’ve laid a great foundation,” Jones said to former Chiefs quarterback Alex Smith. “You know, a remarkable situation. … I’ve been very spoiled since I’ve been in this league. Alex Smith. Patrick Mahomes, always made the playoffs, never had a losing record. Everyone talks about their ups and downs and what they’ve been through. I’ve never experienced anything other than the playoffs! Life has been pretty good.”

Even at over 30, Jones is still one of the most impressive defensive players in the league and has grown increasingly appreciative of his team’s successes over the course of his career.

“As time goes on, you start to appreciate the little things, man,” Jones added. “How hard it is to get (to a Super Bowl) and keep getting there… the consistency it takes to get there. I went into this offseason not even knowing if I was going to be here, but I’m still trying to lay the foundation to build this team. I’m so excited to be back.”

Jones and the Chiefs begin their dual title defense Thursday night with a season opener against the Ravens, with kickoff scheduled for 8:20 p.m. ET.
