Chris Hilton Jr., CJ Daniels injury updates: Latest on LSU WRs entering Texas A&M game

LSU Wide receivers CJ Daniels is a game-time decision for the Tigers’ game against Texas A&Msaid ESPN’s Pete Thamel. In the meantime, Chris Hilton Jr. should be played.

“Sources: LSU WR CJ Daniels is a game decision tonight against Texas A&M,” Thamel wrote on Twitter. “He will warm up and try to play. WR Chris Hilton Jr. (ankle) will play today for the first time in 2024, bringing straight-line speed and the ability to take the edge off a defense. An important addition to LSU.”

The Tigers had more than a dozen players in action the initial injury report released on Wednesdayincluding companies like Hilton. Its status will need to be monitored in the future.

Additionally, LSU already had 12 players listed for the contest against Texas A&M. The Aggies had a much more reasonable injury record.

While five players were ruled out, including offensive linemen Mark Nabou And Chase Bisontisbeyond that, only one was listed. That was the backup quarterback Jaylen Hendersonwhich was classified as doubtful for the competition.

Saturday’s showdown in College Station, Texas, also holds special significance for the two head coaches involved as Texas A&M’s head coaches Mike Elko served as defensive coordinator underneath Brian Kelly when this head coach was at Notre Dame.

Elko didn’t shy away from how Kelly helped his career.

“Oh yeah, I learned a lot,” Elko said. “Brian is a really, really successful head coach who may not be into the huge business of self-promotion. He is the winningest coach in Notre Dame football history. I don’t know if that’s on the tip of everyone’s tongue. He was successful everywhere.”
