Cinnamon rolls to go? Check out the new food options at Broncos home games

DENVER — The new football season for the Denver Broncos brings a new quarterback in the first round and new hope for a turnaround. It also means a return of fans to Empower Field at Mile High and new dining options for them.

This year, Denver7 analyzes some of the new offerings by comparing them to football positions on the field.

quarterback

The most important position in football, where a good player can make all the difference for a team (or a menu). The quarterback usually wins all the awards (like league MVP) and reaps the most glory. With that in mind, this year’s addition of Blue Pan Pizza to Empower Field’s menu is a first-round draft pick. The Detroit-style pizza will be available by the slice at the Downtown Mile High concession area near Section 127.

Run back

That was too easy considering the name of this year’s more unique addition to the concession options. Buns on the Run are to-go cinnamon rolls available after the game ends for fans leaving Empower Field. Hall & Worth will offer the sweet treats at Gates 2, 4 and 10 as fans race home to watch Denver7’s postgame coverage.

Defensive secondary level

If you’re looking for something spicy, you’ll usually find it in corners and safeties. The new southwestern chicken sandwich does that and more. According to a press release from the team, this sandwich is “smothered in pickle juice and sprinkled with spices.” That may sound familiar, but this option is available on Sundays. For spice, the sandwich comes with pepper jack cheese, green chilies, and spicy aioli (trash talk sold separately).

Offensive line

When it comes to protecting the quarterback or paving the way for the running back, your team needs a solid offensive line. And the solid choice among this season’s new menu items is probably the TAG Restaurant Group’s Famous Burger. Nothing fancy, just famous. It will be available in the Downtown Mile High area near Section 127.

Defence line

That’s where the rush comes in. The pass rush that gives opposing quarterbacks and coaches nightmares. And this year’s standout, unique food option is the Thunder Crunch. Here’s the team’s description: “Ancho chicken served with green chile queso, pico de gallo, lettuce and a crispy tortilla is wrapped in a spicy tortilla and served crispy for an extra crunch.” This crispy and spicy option will be available in sections 327 and 525.

Kickers

This last option boils down to the fact that if you really want something, you want something good. This year, Better-Off Burgers will offer plant-based options for those who want to avoid meat. This includes burgers, but also chips and shakes. These will be available in sections 327 and 525.
