Cleveland Browns QB Jameis Winston sets important franchise record

After Deshaun Watson’s season-ending Achilles tendon tear, the Cleveland Browns turned to Jameis Winston at the quarterback position. What they got from Winston in his first start was completely unexpected.

Not only did Winston have a great individual game, he also led the Browns to a victory over the Super Bowl contender Baltimore Ravens.

Speaking of Winston’s strong individual performance, he completed 27 of his 41 pass attempts for 334 yards, three touchdowns and no interceptions. It was a truly heroic performance that gave Cleveland its first upset in weeks.

Because of his great performance, Winston actually made franchise history.

Winston brought a kind of hope to Cleveland. Will he bring them victory in the playoffs? Probably not, but he will at least make the games worth watching again.

Winston had a lot of bad luck throughout his career. When he had the opportunity to be a clear starter, he suffered an injury or something bad happened to him. For once, he’s actually on the receiving end of some good luck.

At 30, Winston still has a lot of good football left in him. Whether he gets a long-term role with the Browns or for another team, this is a huge opportunity for him.

He has shown elite potential at various points throughout his career. Now he has another chance to show what he is capable of.

In his first start in Cleveland, he made the most of his opportunity. Hopefully he can continue to do so in the future and help lead the Browns to more wins.

Next up for Cleveland is a home game against the Los Angeles Chargers in Week 9. Fans will be excited to see Winston on the field in his second start and hope he can repeat his success from the win over the Ravens.
