Colorado Newsline wins 6 awards in Colorado Press Association contest • Colorado Newsline

Colorado Newsline received six awards in the Colorado Press Association’s 2023 Better News Media Contest, with the results announced during a ceremony Saturday at The Colorado Press Association Annual Congress.

Newsline took home two first place finishes. Reporter Lindsey Toomer won first place in the Best Social Justice or Equality Reporting category. Editor Quentin Young won first place in the Best Opinion Article category. Young also took second place in that category, which was a clear win for the class Newsline competed in, as there are no third places in the competition.

The ceremony was part of the CPA’s 146th annual meeting, “Local News Solutions 2024,” held Thursday, Friday and Saturday at the Delta Hotels in Northglenn.

Earlier this year, Colorado Newsline wrote took home seven awardsincluding a first place nomination in column writing in the 2024 Top of the Rockies contest of the Colorado Pro Chapter of the Society of Professional Journalists.

Newsline was founded in July 2020 and has been a member of the CPA since August 2021. Founded in 1878, the association advocates for media rights, press freedom and professional development on behalf of journalists across Colorado.
