Colt Gray, suspect in Georgia school massacre, in court for the first time

Colt GreyThe suspected gunman accused of gunning down four people at Apalachee High School in Winder, Georgia, appeared in court this morning… and it was a shocking sight to see a 14-year-old accused of such heinous crimes.

The suspected shooter arrived at the Barrow County Courthouse in the rural Georgia town Friday morning wearing an olive green jumpsuit along with his attorney… 2 days after authorities said he opened fire on the schoolKilling students Mason Schermerhorn And Christian Angulo, and teachers Richard Aspinwall And Christina IrimieNine others were injured.

The judge read the four counts of murder against Gray and then asked him if he could read and write English – to which he replied yes.

The judge said that given the seriousness of the charges and the nature of Gray’s alleged conduct, he would be tried as an adult.

Gray faces the maximum sentence for each count: life in prison without the possibility of parole.

Gray’s attorney did not request bail, but indicated he might do so at a later date.

Gray was previously on law enforcement’s radar after allegedly making a threatening school shooting threat on the social media site Discord. He was later banned from the site for violating the platform’s anti-extremism policy.

Local authorities have not yet announced whether a motive has been identified. Barrow County Sheriff Jude Smith called the school shooting “an evil thing.” Gray is said to have acted alone… but authorities are still investigating the case.

Gray’s father, Colin Gray, was arrested Thursday night … and charged with four counts of involuntary manslaughter, two counts of premeditated murder and eight counts of cruelty to children.

The Georgia Bureau of Investigation revealed that Colin Gray bought his son the AR-15 used in the shooting for Christmas… after the FBI visited their home. Incidentally, it is illegal for minors to own a firearm in Georgia.
