Colts CB JuJu Brents will be out for 2024 due to a season-ending injury

NFL insider Ian Rapoport broke the news that JuJu Brents, second-year cornerback for the Indianapolis Colts, will miss the remainder of the 2024 season due to a knee injury.

Rapoport posted on X:

“Sources: #Colts promising young CB JuJu Brents is placed on the injured list with a season-ending knee injury. The former second-round pick has impressed on the field.

Due to his early injury, he will be back to 100% in 2025. But the result is frustrating.”

A major blow to the Colts’ already weak reserves. Brents will be finished in year two before he can really take off. That puts more pressure on Jaylon Jones, Kenny Moore II and safeties Nick Cross and Julian Blackmon to perform in pass coverage. An injury this early in the season, given the lack of depth Indianapolis has at the cornerback position, is disheartening when you think about the consequences.

Given the short amount of playing time against the Green Bay Packers, expect the Colts to give Dallis Flowers and Samuel Womack III more snap counts. Additionally, with Brents on the injured list, Indy has a chance to promote a practice squad player like Jaylin Simpson to the active roster. We’ll see what the Colts decide to do with the limited time before a crucial Week 2 matchup at Lambeau Field.
