MHF News It was first reported in the spring of 2023 that a new grocery store was being considered in Locust Grove, when Venture South Investments applied to rezone the property at Highway 42 and Tanger Blvd. The company has opened other Publix stores in Henry County, including Ola, Kelleytown and Walnut Creek in Dutchtown.

Now, land clearing for the new Publix has begun. Signs confirming the future store were put up in August 2024. The new store will be 48,000 square feet, similar to the other new locations. The store is scheduled to open in the fourth quarter of 2025.

In addition, there will be 18,000 square feet of additional retail space and various outdoor lots. There are eight outdoor lots in total. Outdoor lots range in size from one to 3.26 acres. Interested businesses can contact DART Retail to learn more about leasing opportunities.

Finally, the developer will install a new traffic light at Highway 42 and Tangier Blvd. This new traffic light was a condition of the rezoning application, subject to meeting state Department of Transportation requirements.
