Dak Prescott blames himself for the “stupid” interception

Cowboys quarterback Dak Prescott blamed his two interceptions for his team’s loss to the 49ers on Sunday night.

When asked what he needed to do better, Prescott replied: “Don’t turn the ball over, period.”

Prescott said a great interception by San Francisco’s Ji’Ayir Brown should never have happened and Prescott should have thrown it away if he couldn’t get it to receiver CeeDee Lamb.

“I don’t have to be perfect, but I certainly can’t lose the ball,” Prescott said. “I just have to eat this, take the sack. The second one was as stupid an interception as I have ever experienced. I’m trying to do a play, I have too much confidence. Should have just thrown it away. I wish I had put more heat on it so it would go CeeDee or out. It hurts to start the third quarter like that and allow them a touchdown there, when you look at the result at the end, a touchdown is the difference. Once again we fell behind in the turnover battle, and that’s my fault. We can’t have that when we’re playing to win games and I have to clean that up. Period.”

Prescott now has eight interceptions in seven games this season and is on pace to set a new career high with 19 interceptions this season. Prescott is right, he needs to sort this out.
