DAVISON TWP. – The township just updated the Veteran’s Court of Honor with the names of 93 veterans.

The Court of Honor is located next to City Hall at 1280 N. Irish Rd. All veterans who live or have lived in Davison Township, Richfield Township or the City of Davison and have served on active duty in the Army, Navy, Marine Corps, Air Force or Coast Guard are eligible to participate.

The award is also available to all members of the Reserve or National Guard of all branches. In addition, members of the Merchant Marine from December 7, 1941, to August 15, 1945 are also eligible.

This award is free and is updated every six months by Matt Place, the township’s building official.

New residents or those who were unaware of the Honor Court may contact Davison Town Clerk Michael Leffler or Water/Wastewater Accounts Clerk Lisa Minto to have their name or the names of family members listed.

Residents or family members can simply come to the municipal office Monday to Friday between 8 a.m. and 4 p.m. and fill out the one-page form.

The only documentation required to prove service is a DD 214, VA documents, newspaper articles, obituaries, or other documentation showing that a person served their country. This could be a medal award, a mention in a local newspaper, or a mention of a person’s service in a publication.

Davison VFW Post 4087 and American Legion Post 267 have been strong supporters of the Court of Honor from the beginning and can assist veterans or their families in obtaining documents.

Assistance is also available through the Genesee County Department of Veteran’s Services at 810-257-3068. This service is free.
