Day One sets new record with big box office hit

A Quiet Place: Day One has set an impressive new record with its huge box office smash.

The prequel grossed a whopping $53 million at the US box office on its opening weekend. International sales ($45.5 million) brought the film’s debut to an impressive $98.5 million worldwide.

A Quiet Place: Day One was also the franchise’s most successful debut, surpassing its predecessors A Quiet Place, which opened with $50 million, and A Quiet Place Part II, which opened with $48 million.

“We listened to the fans and told them what they were looking for,” said Chris Aronson, president of domestic distribution at Paramount (via Variety). “This origin story, giving them a new city as a setting and fresh characters, helped broaden the audience.”

Digital SpyIn his review of A Quiet Place: Day One, he says: “Another excellent entry in the series that delivers the expected moments of suspense but also has an emotional core that you might not expect.”

The debut of “A Quiet Place: Day One” was only surpassed by “Inside Out 2.” The Pixar sequel’s success has not waned since its launch.

So far, Inside Out 2 has grossed $1.015 billion worldwide, securing its place as the highest-grossing film of the year. In a spectacular feat, it is the first film of 2024 to enter the coveted $1 billion club.

Kevin Costner’s Horizon: An American Saga – Chapter 1 did not have the same success on its debut. The film, which had a budget of $100 million, only grossed $11 million in 3,334 theaters. It landed in third place on the US box office charts.
