It takes a while for Derek Jeter to talk badly about the New York Yankees. After all, he is the captain. But not even two of the most famous ballplayers to wear the pinstripes could turn what happened Wednesday night in the Bronx on its head.

After the Yankees completely collapsed in the fifth inning of Game 5, blowing a 5-0 lead by giving up five unearned runs to the Dodgers, Jeter and his former teammate Alex Rodriguez struggled to understand how the Yankees were in the Fox postgame could show that such mistakes were made.

“I don’t know if I’ve ever seen an inning like that,” Jeter said. “Especially in a World Series or postseason game.”

If you want to be on a national baseball show, you have to tell the truth about what you saw, but know that that felt extremely uncomfortable for the former New York legends.
