In an extensive conversation on Theo Von’s podcast, former President Donald Trump asked the comedian about his cocaine and alcohol use and his history of addiction.

The latest episode of Von’s podcast, “This Past Weekend,” was released on Tuesday and filmed at Trump National Golf Club Bedminster in Bedminster, New Jersey.

During the episode, Von asked Trump if he drank and smoked, to which he replied that he never did, mentioning his older brother, Fred Trump Jr., who he said had a drinking problem.

“I tell people: no drugs, no alcohol, no cigarettes,” Trump said. “I tell my kids that all the time: no drugs, no alcohol, no smoking.”

Trump said he looked up to and admired his brother, who died in 1981, calling him an “incredible personality.” He added that he had heard that it was “harder to get off alcohol than drugs,” to which Von said he himself was in the process of recovering from drug and alcohol use.

The former president subsequently discussed a number of other topics, including his relationship with his family, healthcare, lobbying, President Joe Biden and Vice President Kamala Harris, and the 2024 presidential election.

2024 presidential election: Donald Trump is (more or less) sticking to his script when it comes to Harris. Can it stay that way?

What did Theo Von and Donald Trump talk about?

While discussing the opioid epidemic, Von mentioned during the conversation that he used to use cocaine.

“That’s pretty dirty, isn’t it?” Trump asked, to which Von replied that he doesn’t use it anymore.

Trump also asked Von if cocaine gave a “stronger high” than alcohol, adding, “So you get higher on cocaine than anything else you can think of.”

“Cocaine will turn you into a fucking owl, buddy, you know what I mean?” Von said. “You’ll be on your own porch, you’ll be your own streetlight.”

Trump asked if that was a good feeling. Von said, “No, it’s awful, but you do it anyway, just like the guy you say drank scotch,” referring to an earlier conversation about alcohol.

Trump asked Von which substance he thought was the bigger problem in the United States: alcohol or opioids, to which Von replied, “opioids.”
