Donald Trump: Taylor Swift will “pay a price” for her support of Kamala Harris

Former President Donald Trump shrugged off Taylor Swift’s support of Vice President Kamala Harris’ 2024 presidential campaign while also taking the time to compliment Brittany Mahomes, the wife of Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes.

“I was not a Taylor Swift fan,” Trump said in a morning interview with Fox & Friends on Wednesday, September 11. “It was only a matter of time… But she’s a very liberal person. She always seems to support a Democrat. And she’ll probably pay a price for that in the market.”

The 34-year-old “Cruel Summer” singer supported Harris and her running mate, Minnesota Governor Tim Walz, on Instagram after the end of the presidential debate between Harris and Trump in Philadelphia.

“Like many of you, I watched the debate tonight,” Swift, 34, wrote in her post, which was accompanied by a photo of her holding a cat. “If you haven’t already, now is a great time to educate yourself on the issues at hand and these candidates’ stances on the issues that matter most to you. As a voter, I make sure to watch and read everything I can find about their proposed policies and plans for this country.”

Swift mentioned the fake, AI-generated images that falsely showed her supporting the former president, which he shared on his platform Truth Social.

“It really revived my fears about AI and the dangers of spreading misinformation,” Swift added. “It made me realize that as a voter, I need to be very transparent about my actual plans for this election. The easiest way to combat misinformation is with the truth.”

“I will be voting for Kamala Harris and Tim Walz in the 2024 presidential election,” the pop star continued. “I’m voting for @kamalaharris because she fights for the rights and causes that I believe need a warrior to represent them. I think she is a calm, gifted leader and I believe we can accomplish so much more in this country when we are led by calm, not chaos. I was so encouraged and impressed by her choice of her running mate @timwalz, who has been fighting for decades for LGBTQ+ rights, IVF, and a woman’s right to her own body.”

Swift captioned her post, “Childless Cat Lady,” a reference to controversial comments made by Trump’s 2021 running mate JD Vance.

In the same Fox interview, Trump said he liked Swift’s girlfriend Brittany Mahomes, 29, “much better.”

“She’s a huge Trump fan,” the former president said, later adding, “I like Brittany. I think Brittany is great… She’s a huge MAGA fan. That’s the one I like way more than Taylor Swift.”

Brittany’s husband Patrick, 28, is a teammate of Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce, 34, who is dating Swift.

Several media outlets had previously reported that Swift and Brittany – who had watched Chiefs games together in the past – were in separate suites at the Chiefs’ first home game against the Baltimore Ravens on September 5. This sparked speculation about a fight between the two friends.

However, such rumors were dashed when Swift and Brittany met again three days later in the men’s singles final at the US Open in New York City.

Swift was with Kelce at the tennis event after the two attended a wedding together on September 7. At the Open, the couple met the Mahomeses again and at one point Swift and Brittany hugged.

Swift had previously endorsed Joe Biden’s presidential candidacy in 2020 and was expected to express her support for Harris sometime before Election Day.

Following news of Swift’s support for the 2024 Harris-Walz campaign, Walz told MSNBC’s Rachel Maddow, “I’m incredibly grateful, especially to Taylor Swift. I also say this as a cat owner — a cat owner like me.”

“That was eloquent and clear,” Walz added. “And that is exactly the courage we need in America: to stand up.”

“We saw it with the Republicans who were at the DNC, we saw it with women who would like to keep their private lives private but are forced to come out because they almost died because they can’t get abortion services while pregnant,” he continued. “And now we have someone like Taylor Swift coming out and making that very clear.
