Duel Fever against Sun in the first round

Duel Fever against Sun in the first round

The Indiana Fever will play against the Connecticut Sun in the first round of the 2024 WNBA playoffs. The Fever are the No. 6 seed in the league and the Sun are the No. 3 seed.

The Fever (20-20) are in the playoffs for the first time since 2016, when they last achieved a .500 record. Projected Rookie of the Year Caitlin Clark (19.2 points, league-best 8.4 assists, 5.7 rebounds) and Kelsey Mitchell (19.6 points, 40.2% 3-point shooting) lead the Fever’s offense, supported by fellow WNBA All-Stars Aliyah Boston (14.1 points, 9.0 rebounds) and NaLyssa Smith (10.4 points, 7.2 rebounds).

The Sun (28-12) have six players scoring in double figures (see details below) and the league’s stingiest defense, allowing 74 points per game. Connecticut has the ball in its grasp (12 turnovers per game) and forces opponents into 15 turnovers, a league high.

Alyssa Thomas was a member of the U.S. Olympic team that won the 2024 Olympic Games in Paris. DeWanna Bonner and Brionna Jones were part of the WNBA All-Star team that defeated the Olympic team in an exhibition match. Tyasha Harris graduated from Heritage Christian High School in Indianapolis in 2016.

The Fever like to play fast, while the Sun like to play half-court. The team that imposes its style will likely have the advantage.
