Dunkin’ presents menu offer, joining the trend of inexpensive fast food menus

Dunkin’ has followed the example of many competitors and announced a new $6 meal deal that will be available nationwide for a limited time.

The menu offer comes at a time when other fast food chains such as McDonald’s, Wendy’s, Burger King and Taco Bell have already offered similar specials.

Dunkin’s $6 menu deal includes a bacon, egg and cheese sandwich, hash browns and a medium hot or iced coffee. Dunkin’ has not said how long the new menu deal will last.

The announcement came as the chain also unveiled its fall menu, which includes a pumpkin spice latte, almond spice coffee, pumpkin pie doughnut, pumpkin muffin and apple cider doughnut.

Over the summer, Wendy’s, Burger King and McDonald’s launched $5 meal kits that include a drink, sandwich, fries and chicken nuggets. Taco Bell followed suit, selling a $7 meal kit that includes a Chalupa Supreme, a meaty five-layer burrito, a double taco, chips and nacho cheese sauce and a medium drink.

Last week, Subway also announced that it would offer all 12-inch sandwiches on its menu for $6.99.

Fast-food chains have made the affordability of their products a priority in recent months after raising their prices due to inflation. Executives at chains such as McDonald’s said the price increases had prompted some customers to buy less fast food.

Joe Erlinger, CEO of McDonald’s USA, recently said his company’s $5 meal offer helped the chain win back customers.

“We’ve seen a lot of enthusiasm and the number of $5 menus sold has exceeded our expectations,” he said. “Trial rates of the offerings are highest among lower-income consumers and attitudes toward the brand in terms of value for money and affordability have started to change positively.”
