Eagles rookie beats up superstar before locking him up

The Philadelphia Eagles entered last offseason needing to find a way to improve the secondary.

Philadelphia placed a particular focus on the secondary in the 2024 National Football League Draft and selected the two highest-ranked cornerbacks in the draft with Quinyon Mitchell and Cooper DeJean. DeJean hasn’t had much of a chance yet, but Mitchell has, and he looks like a future star.

Mitchell has started all four games for the Eagles so far and has impressed. During that time, he has logged a total of 18 tackles, defended six passes and allowed just 13 completions without giving up a touchdown.

He looks to be the Eagles’ next homegrown star, and he’s shown he’s not afraid of anyone. Philadelphia lost to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in Week 4, but Mitchell looked good covering Mike Evans and didn’t hold back when talking to him.

“How many catches do you have?” You have one catch and that’s it,” Mitchell told Evans during the game.

Philadelphia fans should definitely be excited about him. In total, he allowed Evans just two catches for 19 yards.

Evans is widely considered one of the best receivers, so the fact that a 23-year-old rookie was able to excel against him should make fans very happy. He is also competitive and doesn’t shy away from anyone. The Eagles are currently just 2-2 on the season, but there have been bright spots, and Mitchell is certainly one of them.
