Fans miss the Guardians’ walk-off ALCS home run against the Yankees after Hulu Live goes down

Score another win for cable television as streaming platform Hulu endured a nightmare situation in the Guardians’ ALCS Game 3 win over the Yankees on Thursday night.

Many fans flocked to social media during the fateful 10th inning to express their dissatisfaction with the Disney-owned streaming giant when their live sports broadcasts shockingly came to a halt before David Fry’s walk-off home run in Two runs against Clay Holmes erased the Yankees’ lead in the series to make it 2-1.

“Two playoff baseball games, NFL, college football and @hulu just stop working. If this isn’t resolved within 2 minutes, I’ll switch to YouTube TV. This is an af king joke and a waste of money,” X account @crunkilton22 posted on X, which had 1,300 likes as of Friday morning.

The catastrophe for the streaming platform is reminiscent of a Buffalo Wild Wings commercial, as the game came out right when it was at its peak.

Coincidentally, the price increase happened on the same day as the service disruption.

“The company is also increasing prices on ESPN+, which will increase by $1 to $11.99 per month, and Hulu With Live TV, which will increase by $6 per month to $82.99 , including the Hulu and Disney+ ad tiers, and to $95.99 for the ad-free tiers,” The Hollywood Reporter wrote in August. “All price increases will take effect on October 17th.”

Having something close to the same cost as cable TV is a big loss for the streaming fanatics, since arguably the most important day to be effective is when you demand more of working-class money.

Thursday’s game proved to be a classic, even if Yankees fans won’t remember it that way.

Aaron Judge and Giancarlo Stanton pitched back-to-back tying runs and then took the lead in the eighth inning before the Guardians rallied in the ninth inning to send the game into overtime.

Fry’s two-run home run kept the Guardians’ World Series dream alive and puts pressure on the Yankees heading into Friday’s Game 4, with Luis Gil getting the go-ahead run.
