FC Barcelona prioritizes sales and prepares for a final attempt at the Spanish star

Despite a recent €40 million cash injection from a trio of investors including Nike and Spotify, the club has yet to return to the crucial 1:1 spending rule that would allow more freedom in transfer deals. As such, Barcelona will have to make strategic sacrifices to pursue its remaining targets, with the potential acquisition of Nico Williams being the top priority.

Recent reports suggest that Williams’ future is optimistic, but it is still unclear whether the player is truly ready to move. Until a final agreement is reached, Barcelona’s main focus must be to offload a few more players to ease the financial burden. The recent sale of Julián Araujo to AFC Bournemouth for a modest €10 million is a step in the right direction, but more departures will be necessary.

Vitor Roque’s future at the club is also uncertain. After rejecting a move to Saudi Arabia, the 19-year-old striker is reportedly considering an offer from Real Betis as Hansi Flick has decided against including him in the first team. His sale, which would likely exceed €30 million, could further ease financial pressure and allow Barcelona to focus its efforts on Williams and other new signings.

Another notable player on the verge of a departure is Brazilian winger Raphinha. According to credible journalist Gerard Romero, Raphinha’s future at the club depends on the arrival of Nico Williams. If Williams joins, Raphinha’s role would be reduced and with interest from Premier League clubs such as Newcastle United, his transfer could be imminent.

Newcastle’s reported €45 million offer would give Barcelona the financial flexibility to fund their dream transfer, although Raphinha has expressed his desire to stay. Sacrifices are often necessary in the search for success and for Barcelona, parting ways with key players could be the price to pay in order to assemble an optimal squad for the upcoming season.
