Foo Fighters cancel festival appearance after Dave Grohl scandal

Foo Fighters have canceled their appearance at this weekend’s Soundside Festival, weeks after frontman Dave Grohl revealed he had fathered a child “outside of his marriage.”

The rock band was scheduled to headline the event in Bridgeport, Connecticut this Sunday, September 29th.

They were replaced in the lineup by Jack White and Greta Van Fleet.

Foo Fighters made the announcement with a short statement on social media: “Foo Fighters will no longer be performing at Soundside Music Festival this weekend. For more information, visit the festival website.”

The Independent has reached out to Grohl’s representatives for further comment.

Earlier this month, the 55-year-old musician admitted in an Instagram post that he had not fathered a child with his wife Jordyn Blum. He wrote: “I recently became a father to a new baby daughter, born outside of my marriage.”

“I plan to be a loving and supportive parent to her,” he continued. “I love my wife and children and I am doing everything I can to regain their trust and earn their forgiveness. We are grateful for your consideration for all children involved as we move forward together.”

Grohl did not provide any further information about the newborn or the child’s mother.

The rock star first met Blum, 48, at Sunset Marquis Whiskey Bar in 2001. They have three daughters together, Violet, Harper and Ophelia.

Shortly after Grohl shared his announcement, an Instagram post purportedly depicting his newborn daughter named Roxie Junie Grohl went viral.

A representative for Grohl has since told the story TMZ The post is fake.

In an interview with ElleGrohl said he stopped calling Blum after they went on a few first dates because he realized he wasn’t ready for a commitment.

“After three months I had an epiphany and called her back. She picked up the phone and said, ‘Oh, I never thought I’d hear from you again,'” he said.

They finally tied the knot at their home in Los Angeles on August 2, 2003.

The former Nirvana drummer has long been a self-confessed family man and often emphasizes that he hates spending time away from his family on tour. He remembered that Time in 2009: “I was on tour for nine months of the year. Now I don’t like being away from my children for more than 12 days.”

“It changed everything I do,” he said at the time. “When you have children, you see life through different eyes.”
