Food and wine festival returns to Casa de Campo: Travel Weekly

Casa de Campo Resort & Villas in the La Romana region of the Dominican Republic will host its second annual Casa de Campo Food & Wine Festival October 10-12.

This year’s event features chef and television personality Scott Conant, chef Hubert Keller and James Beard Award-winning chef Shawn McClain. The event is a partnership with Invited, which owns and operates over 200 golf courses, as well as country, city and stadium clubs.

“The Dominican Republic’s culinary scene has long been overlooked,” said Jason Kycek, the resort’s senior vice president of sales and marketing. “This year’s visitors will be immersed in world-class food and beverage experiences, world-class tastings, never-before-seen demonstrations and a fusion of Dominican cuisine, rums and culinary artisans.”

During the three-day event, participants have the opportunity to participate in food and wine pairings from renowned Dominican and international chefs.

Conant is a restaurant owner, cookbook author and longtime judge on the reality cooking series “Chopped” who specializes in Italian cuisine. McClain won the 2006 James Beard Award for Best Chef in the Midwest for his innovative seafood restaurant Spring in Chicago. Keller, who received his classical training from top French chefs, owned and operated Fleur de Lys restaurants in San Francisco and Las Vegas, as well as the gourmet burger bar in Las Vegas.

Three-night packages start at $3,599 and include accommodations in the resort’s Superior Casita room category, two passes to the Grand Tasting Pavilion for two days, the opportunity to meet celebrity chefs and wine experts, and access for two to the Under the Stars dinner at the Minitas Beach Club. Day passes are $117 per person.
